Bijur Delimon International Design Engineer in Kinston, North Carolina
Utilizes sound engineering and design-for-manufacture principles in developing new products which enhance the various product lines of the company. Ensures product dependability and reliability of the product for its intended application through direct or oversight involvement in the prototyping and testing of new designs which meet or exceed customer, market, code and company specifications. Diligently works to address and meet reasonable targeted costs as established by Sales and Marketing. Represents the company and its stakeholders, including owners, employees and the communities in which BDI and IMCI operates, in a manner consistent with the highest level of professionalism, integrity and ethics.
Reports To: Engineering Manager; North America
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Designs and evaluates electro-mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
Researches and analyzes design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
Conducts research that tests and analyzes the feasibility, design, operation and performance of equipment, components and systems.
Develops and tests models of alternate designs to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications and necessity of modification.
Creates and maintains accurate documentation of engineering drawings and concepts in accordance with the R&D and Quality Assurance functions.
Writes performance requirements for product development projects.
Supports company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and manufacturing practices.
Manages multiple projects simultaneously and follows each project through to completion.
Participates as an integral member of the engineering function while frequently interfacing with internal sales, marketing, purchasing and quality functions.
Works in conjunction with global corporate peers to identify and seize upon broad based opportunities for product expansion, development and growth on a worldwide stage.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:
BS in an Engineering / Technical Discipline; preferably in mechanical engineering with an emphasis on hydraulics and hydraulic principles. Education can be coupled with a minimum of 5 years experience in positions which clearly demonstrate utilization of education, continued professional growth applicable to electro-mechanical durable goods manufacturing; with a track record of successful involvement with product design or applications engineering for general industry.
Other Desirable Skills / Attributes:
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of AutoCad and Solidworks
Working knowledge of project and product management principles.
Practical knowledge of metalworking and machining processes and hydraulics theory.
Strong technical writing / written communication / presentation skills are essential.
Strong working knowledge of GD&T and the use of statistical methodologies in qualifying designs and component parts for their intended use.
Working knowledge of and familiarity with U.S. and international technical engineering standards; i.e. CE, SAE, ASTM, BS, MIL, etc.
Consistently demonstrates solid work ethic and commitment to personal and professional growth.
Must be a good listener and have the ability to effectively deal with people at all levels.
Periodic overnight and airline travel is understood to be an integral requirement of this position.
