This position reports to the Department Supervisor.
Responsible for maintaining, replacing, and performing diagnosis of all instrument/electrical components in and around the Nutrien Chemical Processing and Mining area. This includes monitoring equipment systems to ensure components are fully operational and working to optimal capacity.
Duties include but are not limited to overseeing and directing the support personnel’s daily activities, managing the PSM reporting, conducting periodic inspections, maintaining, and operating equipment and systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for the purpose of processing the highest quality products at all times.
Perform, with little or no supervision, the required functions of his/her trade on various tasks, at any Nutrien location, with a very high degree of skill, ability and planning. Required functions include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, installing, operating, and performing routine, preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical, electronic, pneumatic, digital, mechanical devices and control systems.
Exercise creative thinking skills and constant attention to details during the daily production process. Take actions to prevent or avoid production losses and secure a safe work environment.
Direct, coordinate and effectively utilize the abilities and skills of other persons in her/his trade group, other assisting trade groups, trainees and helpers in order to maintain all instrumentation and electrical equipment to a high level of reliability at minimum cost.
Demonstrate reliability, responsiveness, and dependability as well as strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks.
Collaborative and effective with working well with others on-the-job by displaying a good attitude and leadership skills.
Systematic procedural discipline, following a pre-determined course of action for doing things, guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and developing a team atmosphere to get things done.
Must have high initiative and willingness to take on responsibilities, and challenges without being asked.
Adaptability, flexibility, and open to change in a varying work environment as is common in an Instrument/Electrical Maintenance Department.
High School Diploma. Relevant vocational training and/or successful completion of apprenticeship as an Electrician.
Proven experience as an Electrician. Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems. Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (i.e., wire strippers, voltmeter, etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints.
Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations/guidelines.
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
The National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) testing is required for all hourly applicants of Nutrien. Applicants must complete this test and meet a minimum of 5 in Reading, 5 on Applied Math and 4 on Locating Information in order to be considered eligible for employment with Nutrien.
